Joining the RB & LB

The back pieces RB and LB are now joined.

On the left is the RB, on the right is the LB, which is still connected to your working yarn from the last wrong side row.

Start the right side row with the LB as follows:

selvedge st, [Sizes 3, 5, 6, 7, 8 only: M1L for armhole inc] (Size 9 only: M2L), work all remaining sts of LB in established rib pattern (including the selvedge st), cast on 6 (4) 10 (14) 18 (14) 20 (26) 26 sts using the Backward Loop On.

Pick up the RB, make sure it is facing you the right way.

Work all sts in established rib pattern until the selvedge st, [Sizes 3, 5, 6, 7, 8 only: M1R for armhole inc] (Size 9 only: M2R), selvedge st.

Start with a slipknot.

To do this, place the end of the working yarn over your left fingers ...

... and wrap it once around your index and middle fingers.

Pull the long side of the thread through the loop so that you can form a knot.

Insert your knitting needle through the new loop ...

... and tighten the yarn.

Step 1:

Secure the stitches on the knitting needle with your right hand. Your left thumb goes under the working yarn, the remaining yarn is held in the palm of your left hand.

Step 2:

Turn your left hand upwards so that the yarn wraps around your thumb.

Step 3:

Insert your needle from front to back through the loop around your thumb ...

... and replace your thumb with your index finger. The finger pulls the loop behind the knitting needle.

Step 4:

Go under the working yarn with your needle ...

... and pull it through the loop around your index finger.

Step 5:

Take your finger out of the loop ...

... and pull the working yarn to form a stitch.

 

Repeat these 5 steps until you have reached your desired number of stitches.
