Two coloured Brioche Pattern
The brioche pattern is especially striking because of the distinctive knit stitch columns. It is a very plastic, three-dimensional knitting pattern, which is therefore particularly suitable for warm winter clothing. It initially requires some practice, but doesn't take long to learn.
Brioche can be knitted in one or two colours. The special thing about two-coloured brioche is that the knitted piece can be reversed without any problems and looks great from both sides.
Here I show you how to knit a two-coloured brioche pattern in rounds as well as flat.
In the round
First we work a set-up round with your MC.
K1.
Yarn over & and slip the next st purlwise.
Repeat those steps until the end of the round:
k1, yarn over, slip 1 pwise.
Then let your MC hang behind your work and continue with your CC.
Two coloured brioche worked flat
The brioche pattern worked flat includes the same techniques as those worked in rounds. The only difference is that you always work two rows on the same side before turning your knit. This sounds confusing at first, but it's not complicated at all.
Knit all stitches with your first colour in the same steps as above. And here comes the clue! Leave your yarn hanging at the end of the row and push all your stitches back to the tip of the needle. Now, using your second colour, knit all stitches to the end of the row in the same steps as for the round.
Now you can turn your work and repeat the process on the other side.
With your CC yarn over & slip the first k st pwise.
P the next st together with the MC yarn over of the previous round.
Repeat those steps until the end of the round:
Yarn over, slip the k st pwise, p the next st and the MC yarn over together.
At the end of the round leave your CC hanging in front of the work.
Following that, work the MC round in the same way:
k the k sts together with the CC yarn overs, yarn over, sl the p sts.
Continue in this manner, alternating your two colours.
